Visitors Welcome

We meet in the Dodington Lodge Hotel every 1st & 3rd Tuesday evening at 6:30pm for Dinner, every 2nd and 4th Tuesday at 12:45pm for lunch, and if there's a 5th Tuesday, we meet at 7:00am for Breakfast. Visitors are welcome.

PRESIDENT 1980/81
JOHN S. BELLIS

Educated at Tilstock School, Whitchurch Grammar School and Wrekin College, Wellington. Did his Military Service in the KSLI. Upon demobilisation in 1955 joined his father in the Whitchurch family building business - Whitchurch (Salop) Contractors. Correspondence courses and enrolment at the Shrewsbury Technical College enabled him to assume the managerial role when his father died and many major contracts were completed in local schools and houses, hospitals, municipal buildings and commercial premises, church and heritage work. Executive committee of Shropshire Federation of Master Builders for over 30 years and its President. Round Table member for 13 year, also chairman and president, serving as 41 club in similar capacity. Very interested in sport he captained Chester Road Tennis club, Whitchurch Rugby club -also chairman for 4 years and a vice president; Hill Valley Golf Club (captain) and was a member of Lilleshall Squash club, playing at county level. In Rotary he help found the Rotaract and the Dab Hand clubs; fund raised for disabled lift for swimming pool and electrically operated chairs for disabled youngsters. Involved with the actual construction and maintenance of the first Christmas float. For over 20 years organised and compered the May Concert and assisted in every capacity in a multitude of club activities. Originated the Bellis trophy for annual Stableford golf competition winning it once from its fourteen outings. Founder member of Whitchurch Hospital League of Friends, Development Forum, Regeneration Unit and the Waterways trust. Created Paul Harris Fellow in 2001.
