PRESIDENT 1954/55
H. TUDOR FISHER

Born in Prestwich, Manchester, he moved to the Whitchurch area in the mid 20's when he married. He commenced electrical contracting in the mid-thirties, opening an electrical retail shop in the High Street with his brother, Eric. This grew rapidly with the expansion of radio and the advent of television immediately after the war with Tudor claiming a TV first in the area. His brother Eric, left to open a similar business in Bridgnorth, whilst the Whitchurch business expanded to include not only contracting but the provision of sound systems to most local outdoor events, especially the August Bank Holiday Show and Fete. Many will recall him supplying celebratory music to accompany the impromptu dancing in the High Street when VE and VJ days were heralded. He was involved in most aspects of post war Rotary and of local affairs and he was also a prominent freemason.
Joined Rotary 3/5/1939. Died 11/11/1983. Aged 75 years. Wife President Inner Wheel 1950/51; secretary 1941/48, 1961/1964, 1967/1970, 1973/1976; first District Inner Wheel chairman 1954/55.
