Visitors Welcome

We meet in the Dodington Lodge Hotel every 1st & 3rd Tuesday evening at 6:30pm for Dinner, every 2nd and 4th Tuesday at 12:45pm for lunch, and if there's a 5th Tuesday, we meet at 7:00am for Breakfast. Visitors are welcome.

PRESIDENT 1997/98
PHIL W. CHURMS


Born in Bilston, Staffs and lived in Dudley near the Zoo, often pedaling the canal bank armed with his camera. Studied Optometry at Manchester University 1965-68 and later went into research and lecturing 1969-71. Then to Glasgow Caledonian University to continue research and lecturing till 1984, when he moved into private practice in Whitchurch. Involved for two years in collaborative research to help develop a new bifocal contact lens for Pilkington at St. Asaph. A national examiner for the British College of Optometrists and continued to lecture an annual pre-registration course in Scotland until 2003. Early interests included astronomy. Had a particularly strenuous and taxing year as senior vice before assuming the presidency from John Beeston, who was unwell for most of his term of office.
Joined Rotary 3/1/1989. Wife President Inner Wheel, 2001/02; secretary 1996/1998.
