PRESIDENT, 1984/85
Jeremy W. RIGG

Born in Littleborough, Lancashire, attended HMS Conway Merchant Navy Sea School 1958/61, master mariner with the Blue Funnel Line until leaving the MN with the advent of containerisation. He then took over the newsagents shop in Malpas, developing a
cafe and other sidelines, before retiring from this business after 13 years, to run a pub at Betley, Crewe where the Audley Rotary club met for a further 13 years, before retiring to Cyprus. In Malpas he was on the Parochial Church council, village and recreation ground committees, parish council, governor of the primary school and warrant officer of the Air Training Corps. When he left Malpas he vowed never to serve on another committee ! However retirement in Cyprus finds him on another church committee and running the scout troop - camping under canvas ! Still finds time for large 'good life' Vegetable garden. Greatly enjoyed his Rotary presidential year - Barn Dance, Roving suppers, Christinas dinners extending to the Malpas area with his kitchen as a 'warm-up' area.
Joined Rotary 18/1/1976. Resigned 5/8/1986. Wife President Inner Wheel 1984/85; secretary 1979/82. Her father, John Brown founder member of Probus club.
