PRESIDENT 1975/76
G. VINCENT BRADBURY

Educated locally, Vincent was involved in the Meat trade all his life. He opened a Butchers shop in Malpas after the second world war, and this lasted for 50 years, in association with the family business in Whitchurch of Bradbury Bros. - still carried on by Vincent's son. Prior to the war he was in the Territorial Army and served in the 4th Bn. KSLI in the European campaign, where he was badly wounded. Always very active in local affairs he enjoyed his early days in the Whitchurch and Malpas Dramatic Societies, the Old Whitchurchians Rugby Club, Malpas Bowling and the Malpas Cricket club, whom he chaired and captained for some seasons, especially in the local knockouts. His father, 'W.B.' was a Whitchurch Rotarian and Vincent will be particularly remembered for initiating the Christmas Float which took its first tentative voyages during his presidency in December 1975, and to date has raised some £75,000 for the Whitchurch club's local, national and international charities.
Joined Rotary 20/1/59. Died in 1996. Wife president Inner Wheel 1970/71 and District Chairman 1974/5.
