PRESIDENT 1998/99
DAVID CORFIELD

After being educated locally David joined the family milk retail business upon leaving school - this beef farming and dairy business had been founded over 100 years when David's great grandfather bought a few cows and hens. The business passed through the generations to David's grandfather George and then his father Wallis and uncle Alfred. When World War II started some of the milk rounds were sold to TH Goodwin, and after the war uncle farmed the land and father and son, David carried on the retail milk until selling out to Express Dairies. This gave David the opportunity to enjoy his desire to travel and on 1 September 2002, he retired to live in Spain. A regular churchgoer and bell ringer at St. Alkmund's, a special peal marked his departure as did a farewell Rotary party on 21 August. Actively involved locally he was a member of the Hospital League of Friends, the Bradbury Day Centre and a past chairman of Whitchurch Young Farmers and county president.
Joined Rotary 5/8/89. Resigned 1/9/02. President during Diamond Jubilee Celebrations. David has joined a Spanish Rotary Club
