Visitors Welcome

We meet in the Dodington Lodge Hotel every 1st & 3rd Tuesday evening at 6:30pm for Dinner, every 2nd and 4th Tuesday at 12:45pm for lunch, and if there's a 5th Tuesday, we meet at 7:00am for Breakfast. Visitors are welcome.

PRESIDENT 1992/93
DON PEARCE


Born locally and educated at Wem School. Prior to joining Rotary, 15 years in Round Table including Chairman and President.
In Rotary I have been Sports Officer, including Captaincy of the most successful Cricket team. Community Service Chairman, Club Service Chairman, and more recently Community and Vocational Committee Chairman. Other roles include maintaining a database of the elderly and organising ticket distribution and transportation for the Annual Concert and the distribution of dinners on Christmas Day for a period of six years. Regularly involved in the Club's activities helping with the Father Christmas float, trips to Stapeley, Canal Boat for the disabled, Hospital Fete, Lions Bonfire, Coffee mornings, the Community Telephone Help line, Blood Pressure checks, taking part in the Ellesmere Cycle ride and a regular attendee at the District's Annual Conferences. Interests include all sports : made up the numbers in the Club's snooker, table tennis, darts, ten pin bowling, crown green bowling, and teams: and have been a keen golfer in the Club's "John Bellis Trophy" on two occasions.
Outside Rotary involved with a number of organisations - Treasurer of the Cricket Club for 30yrs, current Chairman of the Governors to Sir John Talbot's Technology College, the Leisure Centre Joint Committee, Whitchurch Market Towns Grant Committee and Trustee/Member of the Bennion Trust, the Higginson Trust and Friends of Whitchurch Hospital.
Member of the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Health and prior to my retirement in 1999 was Director of Environmental Health and Chief Executive to North Shropshire District Council. Began work as a trainee with Whitchurch Urban District Council, when P.P. Frank Clayton was Clerk to the Council.
Don's late father in law was Billy Gibbons whose Broadcasting band provided much entertainment locally over fifty years including many of the Rotary Club's social functions. Joined Rotary 27/11/83. Paul Harris Fellow in 2007. Wife, President Inner Wheel 1996.97; secretary 1994/96
