Visitors Welcome

We meet in the Dodington Lodge Hotel every 1st & 3rd Tuesday evening at 6:30pm for Dinner, every 2nd and 4th Tuesday at 12:45pm for lunch, and if there's a 5th Tuesday, we meet at 7:00am for Breakfast. Visitors are welcome.

PRESIDENT, 1955/56 and 1970/71.
CHARLES J.H. HUBBARD


He was born in Boston, Lincolnshire in 1908 and came to Whitchurch at 5 years of age. Educated at the Wesleyan school, Whitchurch Grammar School and the Liverpool School of Pharmacy, qualifying M.P.S. in 1929. Joined the family Pharmacy business, retiring in 1975. He was in reserved occupation during the first war but was a member of the A.R.P. He took an active interest in the Youth Club held in the Alexandra Rooms, High Street, Whitchurch, until the County Council appointed a full time salaried leader. Very interested in Soccer and Cricket, supporting Whitchurch Alport and Bolton Wanderers and enjoying the odd game of tennis and bowls. On retirement he assisted the Hospital Car service and was an early member of the Probus club. A stalwart of the Whitchurch Rotary club he was the first member to do two stints as President, other than the founder presidents who did a double term during the war years. He also served as secretary for two terms, 1945 to 1952 and 1960 to 1970 - 17 years !
He joined Rotary on 8 June, 1943. Died 4 July, 1986.
His wife Dorothy was President, Inner Wheel, 1967/69. His daughter, Susan, was president of Inner Wheel in 2007. His brother, George,joined Whitchurch Rotary 7/1/47, resigning 27/11/79. He died December 1987 and his wife was Inner Wheel treasurer 1963/66.
